Automatic Meter Reader (AMR)
An AMR is a device that is built into a meter or attached to a meter externally. The purpose of an AMR is to obtain meter read data and submit this electronically to your supplier. This ensures a supplier can bill you accurately for your usage. An AMR device is ideal for non-domestic meters where there is no current Smart Meter option for meters of higher capacity.
PFP Energy are pleased to advise we can now arrange for an AMR device to be attached to your gas meter which will provide us with accurate read data and prevent the need for you to submit meter reads manually. If you have no Gas or Electricity supply to your property or require and upgrade of your existing supply, please contact your local Gas Network/Electricity Distributor Network Operator.

If you require more power than what your existing electricity supply can handle, you will need to speak to your local Distribution Network Operator (DNO) to request that your supply is upgraded from a single-phase supply to a 3-phase supply. Once we have confirmation from you that the required DNO work has been completed, we will then be in a position to arrange a meter upgrade from a single-phase meter to a 3-phase meter.

In order for us to arrange a gas meter upgrade, you would need to confirm your Maximum Hourly Load (MHL) which can be obtained from a Gas Safe Registered Engineer. Once we have this information, we will arrange for an engineer from your local Gas Network to visit your property to confirm if the pipework supplying your property can handle the amount of gas you need to power your appliances. This is known as a GT1 test and is free of charge. It usually takes a minimum of 2 weeks to obtain the results. Once we have received confirmation that your supply is capable of handling your required gas load, we will contact you to schedule an appointment for a meter upgrade (charges may apply). If your supply is not capable of handling your desired load, we will contact you to discuss alternative options.

As part of government plans to bring the UK energy system up to date, around 53 million smart meters will be fitted in over 26 million homes in Britain by the end of 2020. Smart meters are the next generation of meters to hit the UK and will mean better control of your energy, more accurate bills and better ways to save money. PFP Energy are currently in advanced talks with Smart Meter providers and we look to launch our Smart Meter roll out programme in the very near future.
