How do I read my electricity meter?
There are 3 types of electricity meter:
Digital Electricity Meter
Modern electricity meters have a digital display, a bit like a calculator or digital watch. It should display 4 or 6 numbers. You need to note this number down.
Mechanical Electricity Meter
These meters display several numbers on a black background, and there may be some numbers on a red background too. You only need to note down the black numbers.
Dial Electricity Meter
These meters look a bit like a clock, with numbers from 0 to 9 showing how much electricity you’ve used. Starting with the left dial, note down which number each dial is pointing to. If it’s between two numbers, write down the lowest number. If it’s between a 9 and 0, write down 0. Ignore any red dials.
How do I read my gas meter?
There are 2 main types of gas meter:
Dial Gas Meter
These meters look a bit like a clock, with numbers from 0 to 9 showing how much gas you’ve used.
Starting with the left dial, note down which number each dial is pointing to. If it’s between two numbers, note down the lowest number. If it’s between a 9 and 0, write down 0. Ignore any red dials.

How do I submit a meter read?
PFP Energy Business will contact you via SMS and Email on your supply start date. We will also send you a monthly reminder by email and SMS when your meter read(s) are due. You can email your meter read(s) to us at any time, just send them to businessmeterreads@pfpenergy.co.uk, ensuring you include your account number. The SMS requests you receive, will contain a handy link for you to send us your meter reads. Please ensure you have provided us with your email address and mobile number to receive your meter read.
Can I submit a meter read on the portal?
Unfortunately PFP Business does not have a self service portal, however this is under development and should be with our customers in 2019. Check our website for updates as to when the portal will be live, until then, please submit your readings via email or SMS.
I have a SMART meter, why do I need to submit a meter reading?
PFP Energy are making preparations for our SMART roll out, until then your meter will be operated in what’s known as ‘dumb’ mode. This means you will still need to send us your meter reads via email or SMS.
How do I provide an opening meter read?
Please email your opening meter reading to businessmeterreads@pfpenergy.co.uk within 5 days either side of your supply start date with PFP Energy. If you do not provide an opening meter read, we will use an estimated opening meter read provided by industry. If you dispute an estimated opening meter read, please contact our customer services team on business@pfpenergy.co.uk
How do I provide a final meter read?
Please email your final meter reading to businessmeterreads@pfpenergy.co.uk within 5 days either side of your supply end date with PFP Energy. If you do not provide a final meter reading, we will use an estimated final meter read provided by industry. If you dispute an estimated final meter read, please contact our customer services team on business@pfpenergy.co.uk
The meter read I have sent hasn’t been used for my bill?
Where possible we will always use a customers meter reading for billing purposes, however there are some occasions where a read that has been provided by a customer is not consistent with what is validated within the industry. If you have provided a meter read and it hasn’t been used for billing purposes, please contact our customer services team on business@pfpenergy.co.uk
You will need to provide a monthly meter read 3 days either side of your invoice date. Meter readings provided after this time cannot be used for re-billing purposes. The read will be entered and used for the following months bill.
How do I set up my In-Home Display once my Smart Meter is installed?

How do I get a Smart Meter?
